Dual-stage water treatment combines a high-capacity softener with a whole-house filter into a single coordinated system — one tank handles the calcium and magnesium that drive Phoenix-area hard water above 18 grains per gallon, the second handles the chlorine, chloramines, and sediment from municipal treatment. For most Arizona homes this is the most cost-effective long-term setup: you get the appliance and plumbing protection of softening, plus the better taste and skin-feel of full-home filtration, with shared installation, electrical, and drain plumbing instead of two separate jobs.
Clear Water Concepts has been engineering dual-stage configurations for Phoenix and Tucson homes since 1998. We size the softener resin volume to your household demand and the filter media to your actual chlorine load, then sequence the tanks so each protects the other — the carbon stage strips chlorine before it can deteriorate the softener resin, extending the softener's useful life by years. Both stages share a common control valve and bypass plumbing, so a single technician can service the whole system in one visit. Most of our customers move to a dual-stage system after their first softener fails prematurely from chlorine attack — we'd rather you skip that step entirely.
