Luminor Blackcomb-HO 4.1 UV Disinfection Whole House System

The Luminor Blackcomb-HO 4.1 is a residential-crossover UV disinfection system built for large homes, lodges, and light commercial use. Its commercial-grade 316L stainless-steel reactor, ASME-rated A249 pressure tubing, and low-pressure / high-output (LP-HO) coated lamp inactivate 99.99% of waterborne bacteria, viruses, and protozoa — including E. coli, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium — without chemicals, byproducts, or any change in taste or odor.

Overview

About the Luminor Blackcomb-HO 4.1 UV Disinfection Whole House System

UV disinfection is the cleanest way to make sure nothing biological gets through your tap. The Luminor Blackcomb-HO 4.1 sits inline at your home's main water entry — usually downstream of a sediment filter and softener — and irradiates every drop with germicidal UV-C light at 30 mJ/cm². That's the dose that the EPA references for inactivating bacteria, viruses, and chlorine-resistant protozoa like Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Nothing is added to your water, nothing is removed, and the taste stays exactly as your softener and filtration left it.

How It Works

How UV disinfection works

Water flows through a 316L stainless-steel reactor chamber wrapped around a sealed quartz sleeve that houses the UV lamp. As water passes the lamp, germicidal UV-C light disrupts the DNA of any bacteria, viruses, or protozoa in the stream — they can no longer reproduce or cause infection. Because the lamp's output gradually decays over its 10,000-hour life, Luminor builds in headroom so you stay above the 30 mJ/cm² kill dose for a full year of continuous operation.

1

Pre-treatment: clear the water for the lamp

Sediment, hardness, and iron all reduce UV transmittance. Pre-filtration (5-micron sediment + softener) gets transmittance above 75%, which is what the system was tested at.

2

UV exposure: 30 mJ/cm² germicidal dose

Water passes the lamp inside the 316L reactor. The LP-HO lamp delivers a consistent UV-C output that hits the kill dose for E. coli, Giardia, Cryptosporidium, and viruses on every drop.

3

Real-time monitoring + annual lamp replacement

The controller's 4-digit LED counter tracks lamp hours; an audible/visual alarm trips on lamp failure. Lamp + quartz sleeve are replaced once a year during routine service to keep dose above target.

Manufacturer Warranty — Staged Coverage

10-Year Reactor / 3-Year Electronics / 1-Year Lamp

Luminor backs the 316L stainless-steel reactor with a 10-year part-and-labor warranty, the electronic controller and power supply with a 3-year warranty, and the UV lamp + quartz sleeve with a 1-year warranty (replaced annually as part of normal service).

Why we install Luminor

After installing UV systems across Arizona for 25 years, we picked Luminor as our standard for one reason: their reactors are commercial-grade construction at residential prices. The 316L stainless steel and ASME-rated tubing don't pit out in our high-TDS water the way some thinner-walled competitor reactors do, and the bayonet lamp connector + drainless sleeve replacement turn a 90-minute service call into a 10-minute one. That keeps your annual maintenance affordable and your system uptime high.

Built for Arizona well water

Roughly half the homes we install UV on are on private wells in unincorporated areas of Maricopa, Pinal, or Pima counties — exactly the situation where coliform, E. coli, or chlorine-resistant protozoa can show up after a heavy monsoon, well repair, or distribution-line work. UV is the right answer because it acts continuously and chemical-free, and the Blackcomb-HO 4.1 is sized correctly for the peak summer demand we see across Phoenix and Tucson metros — including homes feeding pools, irrigation, and outdoor kitchens off the same line.

Ideal For

Homes on private wells in Maricopa, Pinal, or Pima County

Homes that have tested positive for coliform, E. coli, or other waterborne pathogens

Homes with immune-compromised residents, infants, or elderly family members

Lodges, ranch homes, and light-commercial properties on shared water sources

Anyone wanting a chemical-free disinfection layer downstream of municipal water

5+ bathroom homes with high simultaneous-use peaks (sized for the 25 GPM model)
